Mammoth Machine

The Ariens Mammoth 850 is a new ride-on multi-attachment vehicle for snow removal. It’s the first time that the American manufacturer has designed such a machine, making it unique to the snow market. Users of the Mammoth 850 will be propelled by a powerful vehicle that lets them effortlessly clear snow or perform other tasks when working on large surfaces.

“We designed the Mammoth 850 for customers who manage snow removal for municipalities, universities, commercial landscaping, parking lots and other intensive applications,” said Stephen Ariens, director of product management, snow, at AriensCo. “With a powerful engine and four-wheel drive steering, operators will be able to cover sizeable areas much more easily and efficiently than pushing a traditional snowblower. And with several attachments available that utilize our electric quick-connect system, the Mammoth 850 is an incredibly versatile machine that can handle a wide array of tasks.”

Operator comfort is central to the design of the Mammoth 850. The cockpit is based on a flip-up platform with a premium foam pad you would find on snowmobiles. Heated grips come standard on the adjustable speed-control bar and several controls are at the operator's fingertips, including an electric joystick for attachments, LED light switches, brine attachment switch and controls, chute cap control, PTO, handwarmer and throttle control level.

The Mammoth 850 is controlled via joystick and operates through skid-steer style steering. It features a 28.5 hp Kawasaki 850V EFI engine with dual-canister filtration that generates uninterrupted power delivery and automatically adjusts to the application. Four Parker motors power a four-wheel drive riding experience on 22” Kendra Terra Trac tires, with a max forward speed of 8 mph and max reverse speed of 4 mph. A 10-gallon fuel tank provides several hours of operation.

Machine features include the Snowzilla Quick-Attach System, which is an easy-to-use technology that enables operators to swap attachments in 30 seconds or less. It is a sealed, electric quick-connect coupling system that has no belts or hydraulic hoses, which greatly limits the time it takes to connect or disconnect an attachment and the maintenance required on the machine. Optional attachments include a 48” blade, 44” broom, 36” or 48” snow blower and a brine attachment.

“It was important for us to include a brine tank on the Mammoth 850, as brine is becoming more desirable among commercial operators. It’s more environmentally sustainable than traditional options,” Stephen Ariens said. “We are still going to offer a salt drop spreader with an almost 3.0 ft3 capacity, and it will be available later this year. Ariens will also release other options for the vehicle, including a snow cab, hazard light kit and poly blade.”
