Ariens Sponsoring U.S. Biathlon Team set to compete in Italy this February
Brillion, Wis. - Ariens, known as the King of Snow® and the original brand of AriensCo, is once again partnering with the U.S. Biathlon Association as the team gears up for competition in Italy.
The U.S. Biathlon Association works to support the development of biathlon in the U.S. and prepare athletes for competition, including the Olympic Winter Games.Ariens has sponsored the team since 2019 after a team member saw an Ariens snowblower in the Alps in Europe and got the idea to ask the company for support. Since then, Ariens leaders have become passionate fans of the team and the sport.
"It’s been an amazing journey since 2019,” said Monica Ariens, managing director Ariens Nordic Center. “We’ve learned so much about biathlon and have come to love it. It’s an extremely challenging sport combining cross-country skiing and marksmanship and very exciting to watch and cheer on the team. It’s an honor to get to know the athletes and support them as they pursue their dreams.”
This year’s team is comprised of biathletes from Alaska, Colorado, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin including two biathletes from towns near AriensCo’s headquarters in Brillion – Deedra Irwin, Pulaski, Wis., and Paul Schommer, Appleton, Wis. The team will be competing Feb. 8-21 at Südtirol Biathlon Arena in Antholz-Anterselva, Italy.
“U.S. Biathlon is incredibly grateful for Ariens’ continued support," said U.S. Biathlon President & CEO Jack Gierhart. "Their passion, energy, and commitment to not only our world-class high-performance athletes, but to the grassroots development and growth of the sport through Ariens Nordic Center and Ariens Biathlon Club, is truly unmatched. We look forward to representing the entire U.S. biathlon community in Antholz this February, and we’re excited that Ariens Nordic Center will also be hosting the second annual Masters National Championships and Olympic Watch Parties, bringing athletes, fans, and the biathlon community together in Brillion.”
Ariens took its love of biathlon a step further in 2022 opening Ariens Nordic Center. It was designated as an Official U.S. Biathlon National Training Center in 2023. Located on 200 acres on the outskirts of Brillion, the center includes a year-round trail network for recreation, training, and competition for cross-country skiing, biathlon, roller-skiing, running, hiking, and more. The facility is open to the public and includes lighting, snowmaking, a paved roller ski loop for off-season training, a pond for snowmaking purposes and a 20-point biathlon range.
